Engagement technology specialist Engage Solutions Group (ESG) has confirmed that the world’s largest dedicated Ford dealership, TrustFord, will be one of the early adopters of its enhanced engagement success platform.

TrustFord, a Sunday Times Top 25 Best Big Company To Work For, has been an Engage client for the past two years and is keen to road-test the latest offering as it looks to build on its engagement achievements to date.

ESG was originally selected by HR Director Sharon Ashcroft, who saw the technology’s potential to help solve a fundamental engagement challenge: how to effectively connect and communicate with the 50% of the workforce who were non-desked and distributed across 65 locations.

News updates, CEO video blogs, and push notifications were the early focus of the project as TrustFord started to build a regular dialogue with some 3000 colleagues. With the Engage app in daily use, Sharon and her team looked to enrich and extend it further: policies and procedures and other key occupational resources were loaded up and made available centrally; online self-service was enabled for holiday and training requests, thanks to integration with TrustFord’s HR system; and colleagues can also nominate each other for one of the company’s prestigious PPA Awards that recognises outstanding achievement.

More recently, payslips have gone digital, and can be viewed directly from the app; and the single sign-on capability has also allowed for seamless access through to a dedicated benefits and pensions hub. Today, over 90% of the workforce interacts regularly with the app.

One of the most popular initiatives has been the introduction of a company message board and user forum. Employee feedback had highlighted difficulties around having two–way conversations with colleagues: the forum has provided a simple mechanism for talking and sharing, asking questions and making suggestions. It has gone down so well that the addition of role-based or interest-based sub-groups is now being planned. However, there is no sitting on their engagement laurels, hence TrustFord’s commitment to ESG’s early adopter programme.

Sharon Ashcroft explains: “We want to do so much more. We’ve seen the positive impact of our engagement efforts felt right across the business but we know there are more gains to be had with the right technology in play. Engage can offer us more functionality and more potential to invest in our greatest asset, our people - this is a perfect opportunity to evaluate how and where more value can be added and more benefit gained.”

ESG’s CEO Phil Wedgwood adds: “TrustFord had a clear vision for engagement success and we’ve been able to support them in that initial journey as they’ve picked off their priorities. But they recognise that the journey is on-going, there’s more to be achieved and there’s genuine excitement about taking the latest iteration of our platform and driving home their engagement advantage.”
